Star Spangled Fourth on Hiatus
During last summer's budget deliberations, the Garland City Council decided to suspend Garland's annual Independence Day festival, Star Spangled Fourth. It was determined that funding the event would not be appropriate while cutting back in other areas impacting jobs, City services and critical infrastructure improvements. For the time-being, Star Spangled Fourth will be retired. It is possible the City might revive it sometime in the future when it might be more economically feasible. City leaders are grateful to those who have worked so hard toward this event during the past two decades: volunteers, corporate and business sponsors, and media sponsors.
