Wildlife native to the area is present throughout Garland and sightings of small predators including coyotes or bobcats are common. The mere presence of these animals does not necessarily mean that they will become a nuisance to citizens, or a danger to small pets. In most cases, wildlife co-exists with citizens and their pets without incident. On rare occasions, wildlife can become a nuisance to residents, or a potential danger to cats or other small domestic animals. Garland Animal Services has several methods to mitigate nuisance wildlife.
Citizens who wish to report a wildlife nuisance should contact Garland Animal Services. An ASO will respond, investigate the report, and determine the best solution to the problem. To prevent wildlife from becoming a nuisance, citizens should ensure that food intended for domestic animals is not available for wildlife. A constantly available food source is certain to attract wildlife or feral animals.
